Stress Management

How can Acupuncture help with stress, anxiety and insomnia?

Stress can be the cause of a wide variety of symptoms, including insomnia, anxiety, palpitations, indigestion or high blood pressure. How stress manifests in an individual often depends on a person’s physical and emotional constitution. But many times, several of these symptoms occur together, making the overall condition much more intolerable.

When a person is stressed, the parasympathetic nervous system switches ON, which puts the body in a state of distress (“fight or flight”). In the system of Traditional Chinese Medicine, this is known to produce an imbalance in the energy systems of the heart and liver. This does not mean those organs are diseased, but the imbalance triggers symptoms in much the same way as a problem in a circuit will cause a trouble light to go on. Symptoms of anxiety and insomnia, are simply warning signals that things are out of balance. Because the focus of acupuncture is to bring things back into balance, these issues can be resolved easily without harsh medications which simply tinker with brain chemistry, and may ultimately cause more problems.

Acupuncture has been proven to be a great stress reliever in many studies because of its calming effect on the nervous system. Through acupuncture and the assistance of Chinese herbs, the body is supported and the energetic integrity of the organ systems can be maintained because the treatment addresses the root cause of the symptoms. Although it cannot change an irritating boss or a work deadline, it helps the body to relax more, adapt more easily and not get out of balance so quickly. This in turn, creates better quality sleep, less anxiety or irritability, and a feeling of well-being which is a much more desirable state.

If you are under stress, chances are other symptoms you may have are related to that stress. Call for a free consultation so that you can experience how acupuncture and Chinese Medicine can reduce tension and anxiety, and help you finally get a good night’s sleep.

Insomnia

Because acupuncture has such a calming effect on the nervous system, it has the ability to help restore natural sleep patterns.  Acupuncture can safely be used alone or in combination with other natural therapies to assist in getting proper rest.

Using a combination of acupuncture and hypnotherapy, at one convenient Denver location, many clients have found that they are finally able to experience restful sleep and wake up feeling refreshed. Whether you have difficulty falling asleep or experience repeated or prolonged periods of wakefulness during the night, this program is for you.

photo_ManSleeping.jpgRoth Acupuncture and The Rocky Mountain Hypnotherapy Center have combined the use of acupuncture and hypnosis to create a program that directly addresses both the physical and emotional imbalances contributing to restlessness, wakefulness, anxiety, disturbing dreams and an over-active mind.

This unique protocol includes six sessions of acupuncture and four sessions of hypnotherapy conducted by professionals with over twenty years combined experience as practitioners. The program, specifically designed and tailored to the needs of each individual, includes:

  • A mind-body approach that addresses both the physical and emotional factors
  • Balancing the body's energetic and organ systems to alleviate anxiety
  • Herbal recommendations (if appropriate) to naturally aid the sleeping process.
  • Instructions and practice in using a safe, relaxing self-hypnosis program
  • Identifying and addressing the issues that impair the ability to sleep
  • Learning tools to achieve and maintain peaceful sleep

It's time you got a good night's sleep. Call to set up an appointment today.
